this is a digital PDF knitting pattern, no physical item is shipped

This super easy, beginner friendly, striped tube scarf is perfect for the holidays as gifts or just for your living your best frazzled woman dreams. The scarf is knit in the round and the length and width gets to be adjustable to your liking. This would be the perfect project for someone who is looking for practice working in the round. It’s also a phenomenal scrap buster project!

You have two options for stripes: knit with a single, self-striping yarn or holding 2+ yarns to create your striped effect. Self-striping yarn will be the easiest if you’re just starting out, however learning how to knit stripes is a key skill and if you’re up for it could be a great new learning opportunity!

Sizes: One Size (adjustable width and length)

Suggested Yarn:
DROPS Air
Knit Picks Chrome Worsted

Knit Picks Oceana Worsted
Wool and the Gang Feeling Good Strip

Yardage: Sample was knit with 3 colors, with two colors as primary. You could easily adjust yardage depending on how many colors you want to use.
Primary color one: 350 yards / 320 meters
Primary color two: 350 yards /320 meters
Secondary color: 180 yards / 164 meters

Total yardage: approx. 550 yards / 502 meters for a 6.5’ scarf (you will need more for a longer scarf!) Designer has added 10% to total yarn numbers to account for gauge swatches

Gauge: 17 × 24 in stockinette flat using metal needles. Meeting gauge is not necessary as this is designed for whatever scrap yarn you have lying around. Just know that you may need more or less yarn depending on the gauge you decide to go with.

Recommended needles: US 8 / 5 mm on 8”/ 20cm cord or US 8 / 5 mm needles with 30” / 76 cm + cord for magic loop or US 8 / 5 mm dpns. If you are choosing to make your scarf wider, you might be able to use a 14” / 35 cm cord.

Skills required for this pattern: long tail cast on, joining in the round with invisible join, knitting in the round, Icelandic bindoff, carrying yarn, jogless stripes — video support is included!
